How long have you been working in the outdoor industry? What got you into the outdoors?
I have had a deep appreciation for the outdoors my whole life. I started my white water career on my 18th birthday. My mom took me on my first rafting trip for my birthday, after I was so infatuated with white water I convinced them to let me start guide training the next day.
Along with Rafting Guiding I have also worked as a Ski Patroller and Backpacking Guide. Nothing makes me happier than appreciating the incredible spaces like Grand Canyon and helping other people realize how special these places are as well.
What is your favorite Grand Canyon fact or story to share with guests?
No matter how long you spend in Grand Canyon you'll never have time to see everything. There will always be something that surprises and captivates you.
Do you have a favorite place in Grand Canyon?
My favorite place in Grand Canyon is at camp just as the moon has gone behind the canyon walls. That is the moment you can see the night sky for what it is really supposed to be.
How do you stay busy in the off season?
I work as an EMT on an ambulance in Colorado. Along with Skiing, biking, photography and cooking.
What would you say to someone who is considering planning a trip, but on the fence?
It's impossible to leave Grand Canyon without giving a little piece of your heart to it. Images of raging water and painfully beautiful canyon walls will go on living in the back of your mind long after the trip has ended. The smell of coffee will bring you back to early mornings watching the sun beginning to creep past the rim, the rays playing off richly colored layers meticulously laid as only nature could.
The actual time you spend in Grand Canyon will only be a week or two but Grand Canyon will be in you for the rest of your life.
