Shortly before her interview with Ted Hatch, Sowards went on a Grand Canyon raft trip with Hatch. She seems to have had a great time, and spends a portion of the interview showing Ted some drawings she made during the trip, including one of the sites for the portable toilet. She tells Ted she thought, "Boy, I’ve never been to the bathroom in such a grand place!"

July brought more great reviews for the Grand Canyon, Hatch guides and staff, and the overall Colorado River Rafting experience. One thing that came up over and over again in this month’s reviews was a particular affinity for Hatch as a company and as a group of people who really care about our guests.

Last Wednesday, the Animas river in southern Colorado turned mustard yellow as water breached through a dam that had formed inside a nearby mine and spilled into Cement Creek, one of the tributaries feeding the river. This spill was widely reported on the news and shared on social media, and our guests have all been asking themselves the same question:
"Will this spill have an impact on the Grand Canyon and my rafting trip?"
